Happenings

Took a long-planned trip to Orlando to visit Disney over the labor day weekend. We intended to go back after our initial trip down there but didn't know when. It sucked going right after the hurricane and with higher gas prices, but we booked in advance and couldn't cancel. It was a lot of fun. We had passes to 3 of the parks and signed up for the meal plan, which allowed us "free" $60-80 dinners at night, some counter service meals, and some snacks during the day. Considering it only added $50 to the price of the vacation plan it's worthwile.

Started graduate school at the University of Florida's regional REEF campus. As my office couldn't figure out a way to lend a computer to me I bought a Dell Inspiron 6000. My office encouraged me to do this. I've been wanting a laptop for some time but always put it off as it's not necessary. Plus I was waiting for an Apple. But as my courses require the use of Windows-only software that got blown away. I guess I'll be ready for an Intel-based Apple laptop in a few years now.

Someone in the neighborhood has a wireless connection and I've been able to use it from our living room and bedroom from time to time. I'm a bit late to the party, but wireless is nice.
